> ℹ️ **Follow the instructions below to successfully add a State Return:**


1. If you haven't done so already, apply the state software update you want to add to the return<span style="color: #1f73b7">[ (](https://crosslinktax.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CSC/pages/1869283982)</span><u><span style="color: #1f73b7">[see Installing State Packages)](https://crosslinktax.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CSC/pages/1869283982)</span></u>.
2. Open the tax return.
3. Click **Add Form **or** CTRL+S **on your keyboard.
4. On the **States** tab, click the state you want to add in the **Available States **list.
5. Double-click the **state main form** you want to add to the tax return.
